Studland Village

Approximately 8 minutes’ drive (3 miles) from The Sandbanks Ferry Shell Bay Terminal

Studland village is one of those rare places where natural beauty and quiet charm come together effortlessly. The beaches alone – Shell Bay with its sweeping sands and Knoll Beach, tucked into the bay – are reason enough to visit, but there’s so much more.

The heathlands stretch out in every direction, creating a wonderful location for wildlife spotting. Coastal walks lead you toward the iconic chalk stacks of Old Harry Rocks, one of the most famous landmarks of the south coast. And then there’s the history: St Nicholas Church sits peacefully in the village, while Corfe Castle’s dramatic ruins are just a short drive away.

When it comes to eating and drinking, Studland has a lovely mix. There are upscale spots for something special, traditional pubs with that proper Dorset feel, and beachside cafes where you can sit with sandy feet and a coffee. Many of the places here champion locally sourced food and make the most of those stunning views.

Old Harry Bar is cosy and well-loved, the kind of place locals return to again and again. It’s perfect for a relaxed drink or a simple, satisfying meal without any fuss.

Joe’s Cafe South Beach has that laid-back, beachy atmosphere that just works on a sunny day. The food is easy-going, the service friendly, and the whole place has a proper seaside feel to it.

The Pig – on the beach is something of a destination in itself. Kitchen-garden led and beautifully rustic, it’s the place to go if you want something indulgent that still feels connected to where you are. The produce is hyper-local, and the atmosphere manages to be both relaxed and polished.

Knoll Beach Café is ideal when you want something casual right on the sand – a simple lunch, a good coffee, or a post-walk bite with the sea stretching out in front of you.

Bankes Arms Inn Studland is a classic pub with its own brewery and sweeping views across the bay. It’s brilliant for hearty food, a pint of something local, and soaking up that proper Dorset coastal vibe.

The Restaurant at Knoll House offers traditional, family-friendly hotel dining with a nostalgic charm. It’s a good choice if you’re after something calm, classic, and comfortingly familiar.
