Travelling on the Sandbanks Ferry: clear, simple pricing
Travelling on the Sandbanks Ferry is easy – simply turn up and cross, no pre-booking required.
All vehicle crossings are recorded by ANPR, and tolls are paid online or via the Sandbanks Ferry app. Pedestrians and cyclists pay by card or contactless at the point of travel.
Pedestrians
Sandbanks to Studland- Pedestrians TRAVEL FREE from Studland to Sandbanks!
Bicycle / Motorbike
per single crossing- Great for active days out on the Purbecks and further afield
Car / Van
per single crossing- For vehicles up to 3,500kg maximum operating weight
Goods Vehicle
per single crossing- Over 3,500 kg operating weight. Maximum 20,000 kg laden weight. Toll includes VAT at applicable rate
Bus / Coach
per single crossing- 18 or more seats including driver, maximum two axles and 20,000 kg laden weight
Vehicles not specified above will be charged at the rate applicable for the nearest similar vehicle.
Vehicles towing will be charged double the normal toll.
The charges for vehicles include all passengers in, or on, the vehicle. Vehicle passengers who board the ferry on foot will be classed as pedestrians and charged the pedestrian rate.
HGV – We can carry vehicles up to a maximum of 20 tons maximum operating weight (GVW) regardless of being full or part loaded. We cannot carry hazardous substances in bulk.
Coaches must have ferry lift suspension to be allowed on board the ferry.
PLEASE NOTE – WE DO NOT ACCEPT TRI-AXLE COACHES ON THE FERRY.
Advanced bookings are not accepted and queuing can occur at busy periods.
No tolls are currently charged for the use of the private road, but the Road Traffic Acts apply in full to this road.
